Thousands of visitors flock to Nisswa for the turtle races and annual Freedom Days Celebration.

The flags are out in force this month, with our beloved Nisswa Freedom Days and a plethora of nearby small-town festivities celebrating the Fourth of July.

We’re proud to once again be a participant in the Nisswa Freedom Day Parade — 7 p.m. July 3 — and send a heartfelt “thank you” to the City of Nisswa and Nisswa Fire Department for all that they do to keep our community safe and enjoyable.

Motorcycle cruise will support Eagle’s Healing Nest

Gas up and get ready for the inaugural Steve Eisenreich Memorial Motorcycle Run.

Join fellow riders on Saturday, July 12, for a “roadworthy” cause that will raise money for the Eagle’s Healing Nest of Sauk Centre and officially become an annual event. Registration is $20 per person and will begin 9:30 a.m. at the Brainerd American Legion. Kickstands go up at 10:30, and the 160-mile roundtrip cruise heads westward, with several fun stops plannned.

From Brainerd, the group will head to 12 Mile Tavern (Swanville, MN), then make its main stop at the Eagle’s Healing Nest for a lunch and a tour of the grounds. The Nest is a 124-acre facility, complete with care programs, resident housing and community and private events to support veterans.

After that, it’s kickstands up and onward to The Main Gate Bar and Grill of Little Falls, the final stop before returning to the Brainerd American Legion to round out the celebration.

In case of breakdowns, a support trailer will follow the group. All are welcome to register and participate for this worthy event. For further questions, please call 218-821-1756.

Rock’n on Whitefish returns in August

Grab your sunscreen and head to Crosslake. The annual Rock’n on Whitefish returns to the Whitefish Chain from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 2. Proceeds support Homeless & Wounded Warriors – MN. This year’s event will be held near Big Island on Upper Whitefish Lake. The event is a floating concert and party on water, so come prepared!

Fishing raffle raises $15K for veterans

The summer fishing gear-raffle supporting Homeless & Wounded Warriors – MN lured in prize-hungry anglers once again. The June 28 raffle, with a new location at the Woodtick Inn of Cuyuna, raised $15,000 through the 1,500 tickets sold.

Two lucky kayak winners were in attendance to witness their own prize winnings, said Russ Philstrom, chairman of HWW–MN. Other prizes included large fishing packages, a guided fishing trip, cash, and a lifetime fishing license for a youth angler, which went to a 9-year-old girl from St. Cloud.

Our team at Your Home Sold Guaranteed Exclusive proudly sponsored the lifetime fishing license, and we’re happy to see a lifetime of fishing memories ahead for someone in Minnesota.

Watch for more raffles coming later this year, including the ever-popular firearms raffle approaching early this fall.

Turning in the scorecard: Golf scramble nets $10K for Homeless & Wounded Warriors – MN

We’re happy to announce that the Stars & Stripes Scramble raised $10,000 for Homeless & Wounded Warriors – MN on June 7 at Whitefish Golf Club of Pequot Lakes.

Thank you to all the participants, event staff, volunteers and veterans who came to enjoy the day and honor such a worthy cause. Click here to see a full gallery of the event!
