Patriotic Participants take a swing at the annual Memorial Day Golf Event at Whitefish Golf Club, Pequot Lakes, MN
Golfers arrived with enthusiasm and a patriotic display at the Memorial Day Golf Tournament at Whitefish Golf Club, Pequot Lakes, MN. The annual tournament supports our worthy cause: Homeless & Wounded Warriors – MN. Many teams donned extravagant stars ands stripes, full red, white and blue as they took to the fairways on Monday.
Roughly 80-plus golfers competed in the event that featured prizes for longest drive, closest to the pin, longest putt and a $10,000 chance at a hole in one sponsored by our trusted lenders First National Bank North. As the story usually goes, nobody collected on that offer; however, the winning team reportedly posted an eye-popping round of 56. Congratulations!
In true patriotic fashion, most of the prize winners donated their money and prizes directly back to Homeless & Wounded Warriors — MN. Even the winner of the custom rod and reel made by HWW Chairmain Russ Philstrom gave the prize away to a local veteran. Direct donations and clothing sales for HWW also bolstered the cause. Dozens of area sponsors also pitched in, and Freedom Flight hot air balloon tours for veterans out of St. Cloud, Minn., showed off their flames and hot air balloon options again.
This event is open to the public, not just veterans, so please consider signing up next year by calling Whitefish Golf Club at 218-543-4900.
