Mind Your Mother … and Memorial Day
May brings us many things to celebrate: mothers, marigolds, Memorial Day, and a kickoff to a list of events from our worthy causes.
However, we need to mention the month of June. That’s because the biggest charitable event of the year for our worthy cause has been moved from Memorial Day to June 1. It’s the Stars & Stripes Scramble golf tournament supporting the Homeless & Wounded Warriors — MN. This annual event open to the public is a four-person scramble at Whitefish Golf Club of Pequot Lakes, a longtime host of the tournament.
Tickets are $125 per golfer and include dinner at the clubhouse. More important, a portion of ticket proceeds will go directly toward Homeless & Wounded Warriors. There will be a $10,000 crack at a hole in one, a fishing day with pro bass angler Hunter Wendt, veteran-led organizations on site and raffle tickets. Sign up by calling the Whitefish Golf Club at 218-543-4900.
Aside from Mother’s Day on May 12, and Memorial Day on May 27, there’s also a family meet-and-greet night with our local first responders, including Nisswa Fire Department, at Brainerd International Raceway on May 22.
