Bikers Gather for a Cause to Help Veterans and Their Families
Nearly 60 motorcycle riders joined this year’s ride for Homeless & Wounded Warriors – MN. Bikers gathered in Little Falls, Minn., on Saturday, Aug. 12, and made stops at South Long Lake, Brainerd, Crosby, Emily and finally Crosslake. Though a smaller-than-expected group, the bikers still made waves as they throttled through town.
The Crosslake Fire Department made a patriotic tribute to the riders and the organization with a giant American Flag proudly displayed above the final stretch of the ride on County 66 in Crosslake. Firefighters also gave the riders an escort through town led by one of the fire trucks.
Riders, supporters and their families gathered at the Crosslake American Legion at the finale of the cruise where they were welcomed by the fire chief, color guard and some quality home cooking. HWW Chairman Russ Philstrom announced that the organization recently disbursed another $7,000 in funds to help local veterans and their families.
