From Homeless & Wounded Warriors – MN to Eagle’s Healing Nest, these partnerships reflect our belief that home extends far beyond four walls.
Back by popular demand: Fire Department’s fun event returns to Nisswa Lake
After several recent editions held indoors, the Nisswa Winter Jubilee’s annual ice fishing event returns to its rightful home: the frozen lake.
Historically Nisswa Fire Department’s largest annual fundraiser, the event will be held from noon to 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 15, on Nisswa Lake.
In recent years, the event has been held indoors, at the Nisswa Community Center. Several years of warmer weather and poor ice conditions forced the event inside, where family fun and prizes kept the tradition going, at least in spirit. But the event lacked its main theme: real ice fishing.
With a sturdy ice base and true, Minnesota winter, Nisswa Lake is once again set for a crowd, a fire truck, campers, campfires and the allure of so many prizes.
But the ice fishing tournament is just one of the events of a full weekend of fun in Nisswa. The Nisswa Jubilee kicks off on Friday, Feb. 13, with music, food and dancing at the Nisswa American Legion. Saturday is chock-full with a snow sculpture contest, medallion hunt, wood-splitting contest and many opportunities to support local businesses. Don’t miss it!
On Sunday, expect to see hundreds of people on the ice — firefighters, vendors and neighbors — supporting the beloved fire department that has protected Nisswa for more than 70 years.
