Frigid February Fundraising
“You can’t catch a fish if your line’s not in the water.”
“You can’t win a prize if you don’t buy a ticket.”
Both of these sentiments ring true—and timely—given the upcoming events that support veterans and firefighters in our communities this month.
First, the annual ice fishing gear raffle for Homeless & Wounded Warriors – MN returns on Saturday, Feb. 8, at the Bridge Tavern in rural Crosby. Tickets are just $10 each—support local veterans—and can be purchased at the event. So consider each ticket your extra “line in the water” and go for the big one!
Arrive early before the 7 p.m. drawing to check out some of the great prizes, including multi-thousand-dollar fishing packages, cash, gift cards, and even a lifetime fishing license for a youth angler.
The following weekend showcases the annual Nisswa Winter Jubilee, featuring events every day from Friday through Sunday. However, Sunday (Feb. 16) is the biggest day for our local firefighters, with the Nisswa Jubilee Fishing Carnival from noon to 2 p.m. The longtime ice fishing event, formerly held on Nisswa Lake, has moved indoors, providing a more consistent experience for families and especially children. Don’t miss the opportunity to be part of the Nisswa Fire Department’s largest fundraiser of the year. Go serve big!
Charitable contributions on tap
The Boulder Tap House of Baxter joins the growing list of local businesses that proudly supports Homeless & Wounded Warriors – MN.
Boulder Tap House and its staff donated $1,512 directly to the worthy cause on Jan. 29, presenting the group and fellow supporters with a giant check. We thank all those who donated continue to support the veterans and their families in our communities.
In fact, our team at YHSGR is on another annual mission to raise $10,000 for this worthy organization.
