Stars & Stripes Scramble set for May 30

Open to all; register to play and support local veterans

Dust off the clubs and round up a team — the Stars & Stripes Scramble returns May 30 at Whitefish Golf Club in Pequot Lakes.

This annual public tournament invites golfers of all skill levels to enjoy a day on the course that goes beyond the scorecard. Tournament proceeds support Homeless & Wounded Warriors – MN, which assists veterans in need right here in our communities.

Formerly held on Memorial Day weekend, the tournament now takes place the following weekend, allowing for greater participation and a full day of patriotic golf. Throughout the day, players will have multiple chances to win prizes, highlighted by a $10,000 hole-in-one opportunity. But the biggest impact comes off the course. Proceeds from this event and other HWW-MN fundraisers have helped local veterans with home repairs, car repairs, handicap-accessible equipment, utility bills, clothing, and more.

Ready, aim, win: 21 firearms up for raffle at the Woodtick

Homeless & Wounded Warriors – MN is reloading for another firearms raffle, and this one is bigger than ever.

The Saturday, May 23, prize drawing will be held at the Woodtick Inn of Cuyuna and will include a whopping range of 21 firearms. The drawing begins at 5 p.m.

“A gun raffle on Memorial Day weekend, it’s got to be a 21-gun salute,” said HWW-MN Chairman Russ Philstrom.

The raffle has easily become the largest single fundraiser for HWW–MN and raised at least $30,000 the past two events. Furthermore, the event is growing so much organizers are moving toward two firearms raffles each year.
